Ear Piercing

We currently offer lobe piercings from 5 years old. Every child is different, so our priority is ensuring they feel comfortable, confident and happy before proceeding. If we don't feel it's the right time, we'll always recommend waiting. 

Yes. All ear piercing appointments are booked online in advance to ensure every client receives a dedicated appointment in a relaxed, private environment. 

 Most appointments take 20 minutes, including your consultation, jewellery selection, piercing and aftercare advice. 

Everyone experiences pain differently, but most people describe it as a quick pinch that lasts only a second. Our experienced team will guide you through every step to make the experience as calm and comfortable as possible. 

For safety and to ensure the highest standards of care, we pierce one ear at a time. This allows us to give each piercing our full attention and maintain complete accuracy. 

Your appointment includes a choice of premium piercing jewellery specifically designed for safe healing. We offer a range of styles and finishes such as Stainless Steel + 9ct Gold.

Healing times vary, but as a guide:

• Lobe piercings: approximately 6–8 weeks 
• Cartilage piercings: approximately 12 weeks or longer 

We'll provide detailed aftercare instructions and recommend the appropriate aftercare solution to support the healing process.

Absolutely. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. To keep the studio calm and comfortable, we ask that you limit your party to a maximum of four people, including the person being pierced. 

Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' notice. As appointments are reserved exclusively for you, changes made within 48 hours may not be eligible for a refund or transfer, in line with our booking policy.

 We use the professional Studex System75 ear piercing system, chosen for its precision, consistency and suitability for ear lobe and selected cartilage piercings. It is designed to be gentle, hygienic and efficient, making it an excellent choice for both children and adults. Before your appointment, our trained technicians will explain the process and answer any questions you may have.

 Yes. Studio 1904 gift vouchers can be used towards an ear piercing appointment. When booking, simply follow the instructions provided for redeeming your voucher. If the jewellery you choose costs more than the voucher value, you can pay the difference at the time of booking your appointment.

That's absolutely fine. We will never pressure a child into having their ears pierced. We want first piercings to be a positive and memorable experience, so if your child decides they don't want to continue—even at the last moment—we will respect their decision. Please note that our normal booking and cancellation terms will still apply. 

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment and make sure you've eaten and had something to drink beforehand. For younger clients, talking positively about the experience can help, but we'd recommend avoiding promises that they "won't feel anything." Please also bring any identification or consent documentation required for your appointment.

You'll receive full aftercare guidance at your appointment. It's important to keep the area clean, avoid unnecessary touching and follow the aftercare routine recommended by your Studio 1904 piercing technician. Always wash your hands before touching the area.

Some tenderness, redness or swelling can occur following a new piercing. If you're concerned about how your piercing is healing, please contact Studio 1904 for advice. If you have significant pain, spreading redness, marked swelling, pus, fever or feel unwell, seek advice from a pharmacist, GP or NHS 24 as appropriate. Do not remove the jewellery solely because you suspect an infection unless a healthcare professional advises you to do so.

We recommend avoiding swimming and submerging a new piercing during the initial healing period, particularly in swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes and the sea. Your piercing technician will explain the appropriate aftercare and precautions at your appointment.

Anyone under 16 must attend with a parent or responsible adult, and we may request confirmation of parental consent where appropriate. Clients aged 16 or over may also be asked to provide photographic ID, such as a passport or Young Scot card. If we're unable to confirm that the relevant age or consent requirements have been met, we won't be able to carry out the piercing.

 Each appointment is reserved for one person so we can give every client our full attention and avoid rushing the experience. If two or more people would like their ears pierced, please book a separate appointment for each person. Our piercing room has a maximum occupancy of four people in total, including the person being pierced
